Knowledge Series: Pollution reduction and management in banking

UNEP FI and the FARM Programme invite you to join the online talk “Pollution reduction and management in banking”.
This webinar will share key insights from the work on the new guidance for the agriculture and construction sectors. It builds on the UNEP FI Navigating Pollution: A Blueprint for Banks, published in December 2024.
In partnership with the FARM Programme, UNEP FI has developed recommendations for financial institutions to tackle pollution in agriculture. By redirecting the finances and policies towards low-input, pollution-free agrifood value chains, the banking sector can take a leading role in transitioning to sustainable farming practices, safeguarding human health and ecosystems, and ensuring food security for future generations.
The webinar will explore how pollution action aligns with emerging regulatory trends and broader climate and nature goals, and share perspectives from banks, policymakers, and scientists across water, soil, and air pollution.
The online talk marks the launch of the FARM Knowledge Series on Financing Healthier and Safer Agrifood Systems, which will be held between September 2025 and April 2026. The online and in-person events will enhance the technical capacity of the financial community and other agrifood stakeholders to redirect public and private finance, policies, and practices towards safer, sustainable agriculture.
The Financing Agrochemical Reduction and Management (FARM) programme, funded by GEF and led by UNEP, aims to reduce the use of harmful pesticides and plastics in agriculture by shifting policies, practices and investments towards sustainable solutions that safeguard ecosystems, human health and food security. FARM operates through projects in seven countries – Ecuador, India, Kenya, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Philippines, Uruguay and Viet Nam – and is coordinated through a global project hosted by the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP).
