ISB Expert Exchange Lab ‘Social Banking for a 1.5° Pathway & EU Taxonomy’
15th & 17th June 2021 between 9.00 and 13.00 CET / Online via Zoom
The ISB Expert Exchange Lab “Social Banking for a 1.5° Pathway: Opportunities and Challenges of the EU-Taxonomy” brings together co-workers engaged in meeting the climate targets such as loan officers, researchers, and members of internal departments dealing with the issue.
Evolving from the Paris Agreement, the 1.5° pathway pushes the ecological transition of our society. Accordingly, the EU-Taxonomy is a tool to help investors, companies, issuers, and project promoters navigate this transition to a low-carbon, resilient, and resource-efficient economy.
Social banks play a significant role in reaching this goal. Therefore, this Lab covers questions on where we stand regarding the 1.5° benchmark and the EU-Taxonomy. We will discuss different approaches about how to deal with the EU-Taxonomy and how to align it with social banks’ values, acknowledging the added value for the organisation and its customers. Then, we will reflect on possible scenarios that might facilitate reaching climate targets, including possible collaboration between social banks.
In order to gain expertise and a more precise perspective on the topic, the Institute for Social Banking is excited to have James Vaccaro on board, inter alia CEO of RePattern, Executive Director of the Climate Safe Lending Network, and Social Advisor at Triodos Bank.
