IFC is hiring an expert in Circular Economy based in Asia. Closing date for the application is 22 February 2021.
IFC is looking to expand its advisory services in circular economy by engaging with targeted clients in multiple value chains, including plastics, construction materials, chemicals, textiles, automotive, electronics, and other resource-intensive industries. To support that objective, the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services Department, is looking for an experienced Operations Officer who will act as a technical advisor and project manager while closely supporting investment and other WBG teams engaged in mainstreaming circular economy approaches in the client countries. This includes a well-established program to address marine plastic pollution in Asia through public-private sector collaboration and IFC investments in circular processes and products.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Duties of the Operations Officer will include but are not limited to the following:
• Help grow MAS Advisory business in circular economy by identifying and developing new business opportunities and related projects along multiple manufacturing value chains;
• Help develop and test innovative business models that accelerate the application of circular economy principles in emerging markets;
• Conceptualize circular economy and related resource-efficiency projects, develop client and donor proposals, write concept notes, implementation plans, and project completion reports consistent with WBG procedures;
• Serve as a project manager for MAS Advisory projects, including managing project scope, budget, and schedule, participating in project reviews, and reporting progress to management;
• Develop Terms of Reference (ToRs) for consultant market studies and other advisory and analytical work and help manage consultant activities to produce high-quality project and client deliverables;
• Develop relationships with private-sector clients and other external stakeholders and assist senior staff in managing and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships while growing the circular economy business;
• Support MAS Investment teams in deal appraisals and related project activities while working closely with Industry Specialists and other Advisory staff to promote broader adoption of circular economy principles;
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including MAS Upstream team working on early-stage project development and World Bank teams performing country-level analytics and policy/regulatory research and analysis;
• Maintain an active network of industry stakeholders, keep updated on developing market drivers and trends for circular economy models, including technology and policy developments;
• Share circular economy knowledge, project lessons learnt, and best practices with wider WBG network and external clients and stakeholders to support IFC’s positioning as a thought leader in the nascent circular economy space.
